Beers in Kegworth: Our In-Shop Trial

Something a little different is arriving at Soar. From 30 October to 5 November 2026, we’re trying a small, handpicked selection of bottled beers at our independent gift shop at 6 Market Place, Kegworth, Derbyshire.

There are Leicestershire favourites from Mount Saint Bernard Abbey and Charnwood Brewery, alongside Hawkstone lager, IPA and a lower-alcohol option. Whether you prefer a rich dark ale, a copper bitter or a lighter golden lager, there’s a little variety to explore.

This is an in-shop-only trial. Beer can only be purchased in person during the sale times below, subject to stock. There is no online ordering, online payment or click-and-collect for beer.

Beer sale dates and times

These times apply to the beer trial, rather than our general shop opening hours. All dates are in 2026.

  • Friday 30 October: 09:30–18:30
  • Saturday 31 October: 09:00–16:00
  • Sunday 1 November: 09:00–14:00
  • Tuesday 3 November: 09:30–17:30
  • Wednesday 4 November: 10:30–15:30
  • Thursday 5 November: 09:30–17:30

There are no beer sales on Monday 2 November.

Tynt Meadow from Mount Saint Bernard Abbey Brewery

Brewed at Mount Saint Bernard Abbey in Leicestershire, these English Trappist ales bring something rather special to the shelf.

  • Tynt Meadow Dark, 7.4%, 330ml, £4.00: a rich, velvety strong English Trappist ale.
  • Tynt Meadow Blond, 5%, 330ml, £4.00: notes of mandarin, orange and vanilla.

Charnwood Brewery, Loughborough

Founded by the Reed family in 2014, Charnwood Brewery gives us three distinctive Leicestershire beers to try.

  • Vixen Best Bitter, 4.0%, 500ml, £4.00: a copper bitter with honey, spice and hedgerow fruit notes, and a fruity Pacific Gem hop finish.
  • Salvation Golden Beer, 3.8%, 500ml, £4.00: tropical fruit, citrus and floral flavours from Cascade and Amarillo hops, with crisp bitterness.
  • Blue Fox Golden Beer, 4.2%, 500ml, £4.20: Mosaic hops bring tropical fruit and blueberry character.

Hawkstone

From gently hopped lager to a fruit-led IPA, our Hawkstone selection covers three different styles.

  • Session Lager, 4.0%, 330ml, £2.99: light on the palate and subtly hopped, with a sweet, biscuity malt finish.
  • IPA, 4.8%, 330ml, £3.35: tropical fruit and citrus, balanced with malt richness and hop bitterness.
  • Zero Low Alcohol Lager, 0.5%, 330ml, £2.99: a smooth golden lager with citrus and grain aromas, balancing sweetness and bitterness. Contains alcohol.
