Hot off the Press (and heading to SB Fest)
There’s a specific kind of energy in the shop when a delivery arrives on a Friday, especially right before a Bank Holiday. The boxes only landed this morning, and we’ve spent the last few hours unpacking, checking labels, and trying to find space on the shelves at 6 Market Place.
The arrival we’re most excited about is Sea Salt & Sage from The Yorkshire Candle Company.
The "Sniff Test"
I’ll be honest: every time one of us walks past the new display, we’re lifting the lid for a quick sniff. It’s exactly what we need as we gear up for a busy weekend.
If you’re a fan of those sophisticated, "mineral" scents—the kind you’d find in a Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt—you’ll recognize the soul of this fragrance immediately. It’s got that high-end, clean air feel, but because it’s hand-poured in Yorkshire with 100% natural soy wax, it feels much more grounded. It’s a bit of "affordable luxury" that doesn’t feel too precious to actually light and enjoy.
Why we’re reaching for it this week
It’s not a "beachy" or "tropical" scent. It’s crisp and herbal. The sage provides a bit of mental clarity (which Scott and I definitely need today!), while the sea salt brings that sense of coastal escapism indoors. It’s the ultimate fresh scent for when you want to clear the cobwebs and reset your space for the new season.
Find us this weekend
We’re splitting our time this Bank Holiday between the shop floor and the road, so if you want to try the new scent for yourself, here is where we’ll be:
-
Saturday (9 am – 2 pm): We’re open at the shop in Kegworth. Come in, say hello, and have a smell of the new tins while the windows are open.
-
Sunday (3 pm – 7 pm): We’re taking the shop on the road! We’ll be at SB Fest in Sutton Bonington. We’re packing a crate of the Sea Salt & Sage to bring with us, so come and find our stall.
-
Monday: The shop is closed. We’ll be taking a moment to breathe and enjoying a slow morning ourselves.
There’s something lovely about a Bank Holiday that starts with a fresh scent and ends with a bit of community spirit. Whether we see you in the shop or at the fest, we hope you have a brilliant long weekend.
