5 Things You Probably Don't Know About Me

Most of the time I'm talking about unique gifts, artisan foods, and what we've got packed up for the markets, but I realised I don't actually talk about myself all that much.

So, if you've ever wondered about the person behind The Soar Trading Co — and to prove I'm a fair bit more than just a wife and a mum! — here are five things you probably don't know about me:

I served in the TA. 🪖
I was in the Territorial Army for over five years, even taking a permanent position at HQ for a while, and went to Hungary and Germany on IFOR and UN exercises.

I'm a proud Northerner. ☕️
I'm originally from the North West. People always tell me they can tell I'm Northern because I love to chat and tell a proper story — which is probably why our shop is packed full of unique items that all have lovely stories to tell, too.

I face my fears (a bit too hard). 🐍
I absolutely detest snakes. I once tried to face my phobia and actually forced myself to hold one... only to pass out immediately afterward because I completely forgot to breathe!

I'm a massive bookworm. 📚
When I actually get a rare minute to sit still and switch off the "business brain," you'll almost always find me with my nose buried in a good book. I absolutely love to read.

I still do a happy dance. 💃
Every single time a customer buys something, walks through the door, or supports us online, I genuinely do a little celebratory dance. It never gets old.
